If you are hunting for grants for Christian schools, you may be surprised to know that many grants open to elementary schools are also offered to private schools. Christian college grants specific to private schools do exist, but be sure to open your hunt to grants for all types of educational institutions.


Grants for Christian schools and all elementary schools in general include:


  • American Honda Foundation

Honda offers grants for schools in an assortment of educational areas, such as technology grants for Christian schools. Between $20,000 and $60,000 is awarded annually to colleges that apply online with specific plans for what they will do together with the award cash.

  • Barnes and Noble

Barnes and Noble have restricted funding available for instructional gifts that serve pupils K-12. Applicants must agree to operate with Barnes & Noble to market and implement the application.

  • Campbell’s Labels for Education

You are probably quite familiar with the Labels for Education program. ELabels is an offshoot of the program that keeps tabs on tags when you link your participating shopper card. Each label equals one point and points can be used for private and public school merchandise.

  • Connecting Mathematics to Other Subject Areas

These grants are encouraged by the Theoni Pappas Fund and are available to educators in grades 9-12. Teachers can receive around $4000 to purchase classroom materials. Applicants must be members of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and may only receive the award one time. There are comprehensive guidelines available at the grant site.

  • EdTech Magazine

This grant provides funds for technology, general instruction, and staff development in public and private colleges.

  • International Paper

Offers literacy grants to schools in communities where International Paper has a presence. Awards include National Geographic Kids Magazine subscriptions and outside programs. Restrictions and guidelines can be found on the website.

  • Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) Innovation Grants

This program offers technology grants for private Christian schools in addition to public schools with grades K-12. Each grant includes $5000 for tools or program requirements. While the grant isn't specifically for equipment, some equipment needs are approved on a case by case basis. Applicants need to adequately state how they will be utilized in the classroom. Each school is eligible to receive two grants. Applicants must be in or near communities in which Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold has a presence. The yearly deadline is March 1.

  • ThinkQuest International

The Oracle Education Foundation sponsors this tech competition. Lawyers create an educational site so as to be considered. Winners receive a notebook computer for your school and a potential cash award. The deadline is in April of each year.

  • Vernier/NSTA Technology Awards

The money includes $1000 money, $3000 in goods, and $1500 toward expenses involved in attending the NSTA Competition. The awards are provided to foster the use of data-collection technology in science classrooms.

  • Office Depot Foundation

If the Christian college in your area makes significant changes in your area then it can be given among those Office Depot Foundation Grants. The grants can be anywhere from $50 to $10,000 depending on the job.

  • International Reading Association (IRA)

There are many reading grants for Christian schools through the International Reading Association (IRA). Assess the International Reading Association Award for Reading and Technology site for the instructions for this particular grant which focuses on the combination of reading and technology. It's available to educators in grades K-12 along with the deadline in November of every year.

  • The Verizon Foundation

ReadWriteThink.org is among the many programs awarded grants from The Verizon Foundation. Many of the grants have a strong literacy/technology focus. The Verizon Foundation is involved in basic school education across the United States.

  • Literacy Empowerment Foundation (LEF)

One choice for individuals searching for grants for Christian schools in the Teachers Helping Teachers Award. Teachers are known for mentoring other teachers and instruction in specific ways. The weekly award provides $100 in books to each winner.

  • Lois Lenski Covey Foundation

The Lois Lenski Covey Foundation awards literacy grants to school libraries that serve children in need. Books must be purchase together with the awards which range from $500 to $3000. The program has been launched by children's urge and Newbery award author Lois Lenski. She won the award in 1946 for the book Strawberry Girl.

  • Even Start Grants Program

The Even Start Grants Program offers many grants through state education agencies for use for literacy programs. The award is for applications that serve children around age 7 in low income families.
